What the checker validates
- Sitemap discovery — finds
/sitemap.xml,/sitemap_index.xmland nested sitemap index files, and follows theSitemap:line in robots.txt. - Reachability — checks that every listed URL returns HTTP 200 rather than a 404 or 500.
- Redirects — flags URLs that redirect instead of resolving directly, which waste crawl budget.
- Response times — measures how quickly each URL responds.
- Valid XML — confirms the file parses and the URL count is within limits.
Sitemap limits to know

The most common causes are a wrong location (it should usually be at
/sitemap.xml), no Sitemap: line in robots.txt, or the file returning a 404. Enter your domain and the checker will try the standard locations for you.
